My story starts similar to many others – a young girl, struggling with her image, drowning in flawless media images and unreliable information.
It wasn’t until I was sick and tired of flogging myself in bootcamp style workouts, running for hours and starving myself with salads only to rebel and binge on all of the foods I had demonised and restricted myself from, that I decided to invest in myself and hire a personal trainer. I started with one session a week and my goal wasn’t to lose weight, my goal was purely to improve, I wanted to improve my technique and improve my knowledge.
I had always been relatively active, swimming, playing soccer and spending time outdoors, however I had struggled with my weight all through high school and in to my late teens and could never stick to anything. It was only when I discovered weight lifting with my trainer that I truly felt excited about being physically active.
It wasn’t all up from there, even though I had found something I was passionate about, I still battled (and still do) with my image, my motivation and am still learning every day.
I find solace in knowing that it is okay not to know everything, I find joy knowing that every day I am capable of helping others, no matter how small and I find peace knowing that tomorrow I can start again if need be…
My goal with this blog is to help just one person try again, spread what knowledge I currently have and make someones life brighter by being kind to them and hoping that they can be kind to themselves and others.
